Once in a while I read Slashdot, a site dedicated to the IT and technology world. Imagine my surprise when I read an article in this otherwise left-leaning techno-geek online magazine in which so many stood up for the second amendment. The article itself is about government surveillance - but it was extremely interesting how so many are opposed to government actions. Read the whole thing for some interesting information...warning - there's alot there.

*By the way - I do consider myself somewhat of a geek in terms of facination with new technology.

Conspiracies always crop up around election time, but I've found a VERY troubling one. One of the kind readers (of the 4 that read this site) sent me the following information:

Look at the photo...looks altered right? I agree.

Then I did some research. Go to Hillary's page, scroll to the bottom and view the images 1,3, and 4 (keep in mind that these are authorized by her campaign on her campaign site).

Only three possibilities remain: 1. She really is evil (but we already knew that), 2. Someone on her campaign is trying to screw her over, or 3. She and her campaign are not very observant - in which case she has no business as the "Commander in Chief".

Just my 2 cents...

First a little background, at one point I lived in the Orange County, CA area and actually found it to be one of the better areas of California - so imagine my surprise when I found this article in the OC register (the online version of the local paper).

Now mull that over for a minute.

So far so good...

Ok...I agree with some of that...LOGICAL people KNOW that guns are only a tool. They have no sentience hence it's the person that kills.

Deaths happen every day by different causes. In the U.S, the second-leading cause of accidental death is firearms (after motor vehicle accidents)."

So why don't we ban cars first since guns are the second cause of "accidental death"? Err...guess that just shot your logic all to hell didn't it...sorry about that. The CDC has an interesting take on what kills people - Guns are WAY down on the list. Plus this poor child has been duped into repeating garbage from the fraudulent Kellerman study. The Kellerman study has been debunked many

Obviously this child has never used a gun - or tried vainly to open a safe or lock when you are scared out of your mind and the criminal is coming at you fast. On that last part: (In the US) the rate of firearm death is 12 times higher than in 25 other countries combined is just political nonsense since there is no reference to WHAT countries they are referring to. Not only that but many countries don't track crime accurately. Look at England where they cant decide on the "definition of what constitutes a crime" and have changed their counting rules on how to measure crime so such references are woefully inaccurate and unacceptable (see the above linked doc file). I'm sure that England isn't the only country with problems measuring crime, and if you'd like I'll PROVE that most countries don't accurately measure crime in a future blog entry.

You know the adage "if you don't like what's on TV, change the channel"?

Looks like the government has decided that it will simply ban whatever it likes, they've already eviscerated (some could say neutered) the 2nd Amendment, why not simply ban the 1st?

You see, Big Brother wants to know everything, and they intend to not let anything "slip under the radar" so to speak. So they will monitor EVERYTHING and punish those with opposing viewpoints to the BIG GOVERNMENT rule.

Check out these "fun" excepts under section 899B (the vagueness ensures that they can use such law against the people at their whim):

So they needs to monitor us, track us, and watch us - yes even keep us in check with bans on certain information, and certain "unapproved" weapons.

So those in power use a fearsome enemy and their threats of violence, tell us why we should fear this enemy and if we question/criticize the government on their steps in protecting us - we are not patriotic. Yet they do not seal our borders which is the best way to keep this fearsome enemy out. So we do the job THEY (the government) should be doing with our citizen border search groups, and yet they do not listen - nor do they wish to. They would rather muzzle us not unlike a dog.

Thankfully, I can still speak my mind on the current government issue - oh wait...I can't.

Well...as if it weren't enough that illegal immigrants accounted for 1 out of 5 inmates in our wonderful penal system and accounting for a hefty amount of crime - looks like the government caught one and charged him for having a gun. Now I don't know what those of you may think - but if a person is here illegally (crime) and has a gun (which he has no rights under the Constitution - due to his status) - what should we do? Launching the offender back into their native country by catapult comes to mind...

Granted the "Brady Bunch" (*cough...of idiots...cough*) will likely use this to push their socialist agenda, but not fix the underlying issue - illegal immigration! It still amazes me that our government will not listen to the people and seal the border.

Part of the reason for this rant of mine is that a friend of mine (who shall remain nameless), had his house recently broken into by not one or two - but a whole group of hispanic illegal immigrants. Luckily (for the illegals) he was not there when they broke in. The first place they hit - the gun safe! They pried it open after almost an hours work (yes, Virginia a gun safe only slows down a determined criminal/s) and removed all the guns and then ransacked the house for valuables.

Luckily for my friend, the illegals were were "detained" when they hopped the fence behind his house and into the waiting jaws of the neighbor's pair of AKC Rottweilers. When the police arrived the illegals informed them that the guns were so they could "get a job". What time of job I wonder?

The moral of the story is that this lax attitude towards law and order by our very government is increasing crime. As this crime increases we as patriots, the law abiding, and gun owners - will see increasing attacks because there are those who are "blind", immoral, and complicit in crimes against our Consitution wish us to become the Socialist dystopia (NOT utopia) they envision.

Sure I'm rambling, sure these are my ideas...but I'm mad as Hell...and you should be too.

Between work and family, I have come to the conclusion that perhaps this blog needs to end. I've thought long and hard about this. I'm quite sure that I lack the writing talents of David Codrea (over at Waronguns), and the natural tenacity of many other writers and "doers" in the pro-gun culture. Please understand that I'm not giving up - I just cannot find the time to update this blog on a regular basis and feel that perhaps I'm doing a disservice to those who run far finer blogs than mine.

Some months ago I wrote how Germans rebuilt the
Luftwaffe using glider training to get around the
treaty of Versailles. I mentioned that the more people
in America that supported shooting sports the harder
it would be for the anti gun lobby to gain traction.
The Biathlon is such a sport. In the winter,
participants cross country ski and then immediately
shoot at a 50 meter target. This sport has roots in
winter warfare. The summer version has runners do a
distance cross country and then shoot. Reminds me of
the grunt training I had as a Marine. These are fine
athletes and we as shooters should recognize them and
encourage others to participate in our respective

Yes, I know that Katrina is old news, as is what occurred during and after it hit. But the implications of this are scary...using religion as a weapon against the people?

The video is just as chilling. Check out the "intellectual" saying that "the government is established by the Lord", hate to break it to him but I think that he took that scripture WAY out of context. Remember that the kings and tyrants of the middle ages used the same "divine right" argument to rape, kill and pillage their way into power. I just don't see God (regardless of what religion you practice - Christian, Buddhist, Hindu etc.) agreeing that restricting the rights of people is alright...as long as it is convenient for the government.

It's not religion (although he and I share the same faith), it's not his morals (although for the most part he appears to be the antithesis of Bill Clinton), it's his view on the Second Amendment.

Just an FYI (and no I'm not going to turn this into a religious discussion blog) - the LDS (Mormon) faith teaches that the United States Constitution is inspired by God - that includes the Second Amendment - so obviously Romney isn't that faithful in his beliefs (of course the same could be said of Reid). Just my opinion...

I guess that all the "wanna-be" presidential hopefuls obviously can't read English as not a one of them seems to understand the Constitution.

Guess those folks in England shouldn't have let the government disarm them because all Hell has broken loose now.

In all fairness crime has increased exponentially in all of England since their "restrictions" on firearms ownership. Those "restrictions" joined with a legislature unwilling to protect their people has led to a country RULED by crime - they don't even jail shoplifters!!! They give them a ticket? But good heavens...200 robberies in 10 years?

The difference is that you rob a shop here (in select parts of the US), you don't get a ticket from the police - usually the shop owner "punches your ticket" and the only consolation prize thieves get (hopefully) is a couple of lilies and six feet of soil on their chest.

...and to think that England was once a great empire...

Dear friends, remember a good percentage of our government wants to restrict firearm ownership so we can be "civilized" *cough* pacified *cough* just like England.

Now our government that is determined to disarm civilians is trying a new tactic: declare us all "insane".

The problem is, when you outlaw the possession of firearms - only "outlaws" will have them. One could safely suppose that the government hasn't yet heard of the law of unintended consequences.

I can see it now - Just for record these I invented just for this posting, but they are plausible - a person being disarmed for being in violation of any of the following:

412.00 Mistrust of the government (paranoia)
425.00 Practicing a Christian faith in violation of "social" acceptance of alternative lifestyles (a possible one if Hillary gets in)
480.00 General paranoia - storing food (selfishness)

Granted, these are a bit ridiculous - would the government really disarm people for violating similar ludicrous laws?

Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant's house where the news stations film the group singing, "We shall overcome." Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper's sake.

Nancy Pelosi & John Kerry exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer. The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government.

Yes, this is old news - no it's not gun related

I justify placing this on the blog as it is LIFE related. That's what our guns are for - to protect our lives!

Yet, if we are entirely beholden to an organization that controls all food...we have little to no hope of ever being truly free. This is planned tyranny every bit (or more) dangerous as what our founding fathers fought.

Pay close attention to this part from the above article:

"Monsanto has continued to work closely with Delta & Pine Land to lobby for Terminator at United Nations meetings."

Think about it for a second - gun control is serious, but food control? A dictator can disarm his people, but then to have more control he can plant these crops everywhere and then as they cross pollinate they stop an independent farmer's crops from germinating. If you don't eat you can't live for more than three weeks...this is scary stuff.

Think of the possibilities.

This is the reason that I recommended a while back that those few readers that frequent this blog store food for you and your families.

I am not advocating violence against Monsanto or any other company that genetically modifies crops, I am recommending that those in the government and positions of authority STOP this MADNESS before it's too late.

It appears that certain members of the Muslim community are recruiting and preparing for combat...on American soil.

While they are preparing their militias and recruiting ex-felons and giving them guns (remember felons cannot use/own firearms), the ATF does nothing. You see, the ATF is too busy patting themselves on the back for arresting harmless old men and killing unarmed women that are tending their children - to actually go after REAL threats.

I'm going to restate something I have said before, the ATF, the FBI and other associated Federal Agencies are cowards - pure and simple. To those of you in such Federal Agencies - PLEASE prove me wrong...PLEASE - stop these groups before they unleash a war on our streets and in our cities! And for our nation's sake stop attacking our "law-abiding"* citizens.

*Remember while it may be a privilege to drive, it is a RIGHT to bear arms (arms = any man-portable weapon and may include even artillery). The right to bear arms shall NOT BE INFRINGED. That means the right to bear arms shall not be taken away, limited, confiscated, or meddled with (just wanted to put it in small words so you folks from the agencies could clearly understand it - since you haven't seemed to understand it thus far).

Ever hear of CCD (Colony Collapse Disorder)?

It turns out that bees all over the world are disappearing (dying?). No, this is not a conspiracy theory or "black helicopter" tale...but something very, VERY real. This is far more scary than Iran with the bomb because this effects everyone world wide (well, in fairness Iran would effect everyone too - but I hope you know what I mean).

Google it, look it up - don't take my word for it.

Question: Why hasn't the media touched this? Answer...well draw your own conclusion.

I don't think that "Frankenfoods" are the only reason this is happening, but it certainly is one of the main reasons. Now for the record, I'm no "tree-hugger" but I do have a healthy respect for nature - I believe that one should not "play God" unless one is ready for the responsibility. Our race (as a whole) is not nearly mature enough for that duty (I rather doubt we will ever be).

There are many theories why CCD is happening...but no answers.

This is one of the reasons that I stated some time back that getting a supply of food is every bit as important as a supply of ammo - or a firearm. This article, while not necessarily following the ideas of firearms and the Second Amendment is relevant. Good luck defending yourself or your family if you have not the strength (due to lack of food) to lift yourself from the ground. Worse yet, imagine having to defend what little food you have from those driven mad by hunger determined to steal it from you.

I just hope people are paying attention.

Just an idea Angel, but you may want to...oh I dunno...actually READ the Constitution that you took an oath to uphold. The right to bear arms is NOT granted by the government, the Constitution is a set of limits ON the government. The right to bear arms and the rest of the Constitution is granted to mankind by it's Creator (or so said several of the Founding Fathers).

Also Angel, before you start calling for a police investigation into the actions of patriots upset with your UNCONSTITUTIONAL and TRAITOROUS actions you may want to be careful. After all, it appears that your actions...YOUR actions...have made people angry enough to hang you from the Tree of Liberty.

It also appears that Congressman Dennis Kucinich wants to completely ban handguns. This of course, does two things that some of the leaders of this nation want to see:

1. Eviscerates the CONSTITUTION (good luck "defending" the Constitution without means)
2. Fulfills the Communist Manifesto (My advice Google it...for the record Dennis is a Red)

Congressman Dennis Kucinich is also the "genius" that brought you legislation to establish a Department of Peace and Nonviolence AKA "Big Brother" (see my earlier entries on this).

We are in a very awkward state in this nation, we are in a "cold" culture war. Politicians fear it becoming "hot" for then it is known by a different name - Civil War - so politicians will do all in their power to disarm the people now before the people are pushed too far. 9mm vs. 40+ caliber

I happen to like both the .40 and 9mm calibres. I used to own a Springfield Armory micro compact (.45 calibre) and it was absolutely horrible in terms of accuracy. I kid you not, at 25 feet I couldn't hit a human sized silhouette target - and have absolutely no problems hitting it 9 out of 9 times with a Glock 27 (far more recoil than the .45 - In my humble opinion). Anyway, I sold the Springfield pistol due to the problems I had with it.

Now, the purpose of this article is not to discuss what I used to have and shoot, or do currently have and shoot, but to direct you to an interesting forum entry by a technician (performs autopsies) that works at the Atlanta Georgia Morgue. He goes on to discuss his observations on calibre and efficiency. Please note, there were at my counting 20+ pages...and they just get more interesting based on his observations of weapon type:

1. Shotgun
2. Rifle
3. Pistol (last resort)

Just for the record, I would NEVER feel underarmed with a 9mm carry piece. Of course, your mileage may vary...

No, I'm not going to hash it out about the anti-gun nuts and the Virginia Tech massacre. Would a Concealed Carry holder have stopped the killer from killing - no, but he certainly would have been well ventilated long before he arrived at the number he did.

I'm tired.

I'm tired of voting for the lesser of two evils. I'm tired of politicians not listening to their constituents and not sealing the borders. I'm tired of bureaucrats deciding what THEY think the constitution means - and not actually reading it. I'm tired of the media circus over who will be the next president and the "greatness" they will restore to this nation (read: the Constitution which they will violate in new and traitorous ways).

I'm just tired.

All the recent candidates are a joke. All (that I have seen) are either wolves in sheep's clothing, or don't even bother with the sheep disguise. Let's analyze a few shall we:

Hillary Clinton: Socialist of the lowest order. While her husband clearly deserves a traitors fate, if she becomes president...well...the grand experiment of this glorious nation is over - I'd guess within the first 6 months.

Obama: All flash, no substance and a "kinder, gentler" socialist.

Romney: While it's virtually guaranteed that he'll get Utah and Idaho's vote - it's only because the folks there will just look at his religion and NOT his track record. His record on gun rights - any consitutional rights for that matter - is abysmal. This moron had the audacity to show up at a gunshow and then try to confuse the issue on firearm ownership after all his years of voting AGAINST gun ownership. In short, he's a Christian socialist (is that even possible?).

Giuliani: The republican golden child which would disarm us all, and then make us take tests to establish "why we need a gun". Ask yourself if he doesn't have the ability to work out problems with his wife (wives?) before divorcing them and fornicating with whoever is his flavor of the week - how in the HELL can he be trusted to control himself dealing with foreign and domestic policy?

Tancredo: Maybe...at least he'd fight to seal the borders (that would count for something). Will those on the SPP panel and those in high places ever let him run? Doubtful.

Insert misc. third party candidate: Never happen, not without something major happening that none of us (with half a brain) want to see.

We're stuck for the near future with candidates who could care less about the people they are elected to protect and this nation that they SHOULD be making stronger. Such candidates/politicians are too busy making money, pandering to the UN, associating with terrorists (and kissing up to them too), and in general playing with fire while destroying our constitution.

In short, no matter who wins - we lose.

Sorry to everyone for being away for a while. A rather nasty bout of the 'flu (no...not the bird 'flu) has decided to visit the family and I have been otherwise occupied between work and taking care of those that were ill.

David at Waronguns posted some rather telling information that was posted to a prominent police officer magazine. I think that you will all enjoy it as it shows that most officers would rather not disarm the populace. Do officers really aim to protect the rights of ordinary Americans? Remember, it's easy to say: "Sure, I value the individual right to bear arms" when you are talking to a magazine, it's quite another to be under orders to confiscate firearms when your pension (retirement) is on the line. Makes you think...

Frankly, here's my question: if the bulk of officers really concern themselves about the rights of Americans, why don't they stand as one voice and say so? Sure, I know that politics exist in every aspect of every business and government body, but what is a city going to do? Fire all the officers? Don't even throw the New Orleans example at me - that was a different situation entirely.

See, I want to like and trust officers - but I have a very hard time doing so. Especially when they refuse to stand up and condemn the actions of those among them who seem to forget that this is supposed to be a America, not Mother Russia.

Yes friends, our dear overlords know that the criminals are a danger and don't follow laws - however they still find it easier to disarm those who aren't causing problems.

Do you ever wonder why the ATF finds it easier to crash into a gun collectors house at 2AM rather than invade a crack-house filled to the brim with gang members?

I'll just come out and say it...they don't want to get shot! Those that oppose private gun ownership know that:

1. The average law abiding citizen really does not want to pick a fight with the government - really we don't! We would like to resolve the erosion of our right peacefully - if the government will let us.

2. Gang member for the most part (I know - I used to have "friends" that were/became members) have lookouts that keep an eye out for LEOs, are sometimes better armed than most gun collectors (although they do not shoot nearly as well), and wont hesitate to open fire.

Still wonder why the various "alphabet" agencies (ATF, FBI etc.) and anti-gun folks would rather go after law abiding citizens? Here's the secret - the government and the agencies that would deprive citizens of the right to bear arms harbor cowardice. If they were not cowards they would actually go after those that are COMMITTING the crimes, not some gun collector who enjoys shooting a few rounds on the weekend.

Now, I'll take a step back and explain that not all LEOs, and members of the various agencies are cowards - they are not, but I would pray that those that do read these words realize that they should stop attacking the citizens who support them and start supporting the citizens whose taxes pay their salaries. Perhaps they should start actually going after those who really are a threat to them...the REAL criminals.

This is my opinion based on my observations and research...take it or leave it.

So without further adieu I'm posting this - the finest explanation of how screwed up this nation is I have seen in quite some time:

During the run-up to the 2004 election, hundreds, if not thousands of liberals promised to leave America for good if Bush was re-elected. So America came out in record numbers to guarantee a Bush victory by nearly 4 million votes. As is typical, not one liberal kept their promise. Instead, they have only become more obnoxious in their efforts to dismantle America. America’s liberal movement isn’t what it used to be. The old live and let live, make love not war liberal who just wanted to be left alone to pursue his often drug induced euphoric consequence-free utopian existence has been replaced. I liked this old liberal. He did himself all kinds of harm, but generally speaking, he didn’t hurt anyone else. He was passive by nature, spending most of his time hanging out in his marijuana patch listening to the Beatles. I miss this old liberal…

The new liberal is a horse of an entirely different color. He is a bitter hate-filled America loathing Marxist, just as determined to bring the world’s most powerful nation to its knees as any foreign enemy in history. The new liberal doesn’t just hate George W. Bush or Dick Cheney. As their newly elected Messiah so proudly pronounced – “they hate everything they stand for.” Things like a strong military, a vibrant, free, capitalist economy, and a foreign policy that hinges on strength rather than weakness, real moral principles and true personal liberty. They hate it all… America is the freest nation on earth (despite liberal demands for more government control of everything). He believes that all sexual perversions are just “alternative lifestyles” that must be tolerated in the name of creating an open society. He believes that those who don’t support such ideas are bigots. He believes that all religions are deserving of equal status, including the not so peaceful religion of Islam, the always entertaining satanic cult, and the religion of no religion, atheism. To the modern day liberal, there is no real difference between religions. He looks at terrorists firing upon American soldiers from behind the cover of female Muslim attire as victims of brutal American oppression. But he sees a terrorist prison camp where the American people pay for clean housing, three squares, a free Koran and a free prayer rug aimed at Mecca for every detainee as a Nazi Gulag. He sees legal immigration and illegal immigration as the same thing. A chance to recruit another liberal voter in search of free stuff from America’s feeding trough. He does not believe in self-governance or self-reliance, but rather in absolute government control over every aspect of American life. He doesn’t believe in a free market economy, but rather a government controlled economy designed to arbitrarily redistribute wealth. He doesn’t believe in freedom, just free stuff. He does not believe in national sovereignty. In the United Nations run by thugs, thieves and third world tyrants, he trusts. He looks at failing government controlled health care systems around the world and determines that America should do that too. He looks at the impending disaster of open societies in Europe and determines America should follow in their footsteps. He looks at one self-proclaimed war hero who refuses to release his military records to support his hero status and sees a real honest to goodness war hero. But he looks at more than 200 confirmed war heros who claim the other is a fraud and a traitor, and sees more than 200 liars. Now, it stands to reason that today’s liberal just might not be too bright, since there is quite literally no way to make sense of any of his logic. But it’s impossible to believe that anyone could actually be so foolish. So it is more likely that there is simply an agenda behind all this foolishness. That agenda is the dismantling of everything American. They intend to continue to systematically replace our free market economy with a government controlled welfare state that will make every American equal, equally poor that is.

They intend to replace our One Nation under God with a Godless society dependent upon man made laws rather than morality based self-governance. The facts are simply indisputable… They have already replaced our right to life endowed by our Creator with a government sanctioned right to murder our unborn and our physically or mentally challenged no longer of use to society. They have already replaced our right to free religious expression with a non-existent separation of church and state clause that effectively outlaws religious expression. All of this is at odds with the vast majority of Americans, yet it continues. If America is to continue being America, the enemy within must be dealt with. The time for tolerance has passed. We have tolerated far too much already. America’s survival depends entirely upon our ability to foster and nurture true American principles and ideals. Those who would undermine these ideals must be no more welcome in our country than those who seek to destroy America through more brutal means. Though the means are different, the threat is the same. America can not be all things to all people. It can either be America, or it can be something much less. It is time to deport those who like nothing about the country that unwillingly feeds and provides protection for their ill conceived agenda. Immigrants who seek to make America more like their homeland need to simply return to their homeland. If they won’t do it voluntarily, we should help them.

I don’t hate anyone…But I will no longer tolerate people intent upon destroying my country!

`(L) A semiautomatic rifle or shotgun originally designed for military or law enforcement use, or a firearm based on the design of such a firearm, that is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, as determined by the Attorney General. In making the determination, there shall be a rebuttable presumption that a firearm procured for use by the United States military or any Federal law enforcement agency is not particularly suitable for sporting purposes, and a firearm shall not be determined to be particularly suitable for sporting purposes solely because the firearm is suitable for use in a sporting event.'.

This allows government to "define" on the fly what firearm is "suitable" for the peasants to have. How nice of them...

My take is that this may not pass as the politicians are aware that trust for the government is at an all time low (what with the Haliburton/FEMA camps being built for our protection). I fear that while this one may not pass, that after the next presidential election that a FAR worse bill will be proposed essentially evicerating the Second Amendment (as if it wasn't slowly dying already).

I have tried thus far to present the case that the second amendment is exactly what it appears on it's face, the right of the citizenry of America to keep and bear arms. I hope that my points have made some sense in the prospect of bolstering a friendly reader’s position and even perhaps causing someone of differing opinions to give the second amendment a new think. I would like to finish off with a perspective of what to do now. I feel there are several avenues on which to proceed positively to strengthen the second amendment and insulate it from an encroaching government that at times treats it as the pesky civil right. First, as many people as possible should be encouraged to take up target shooting as well as skeet shooting. Try to start a range in your area if there isn’t one. If there is one, support it. If a military range is available, see if you can sponsor a club. Help BSA camps to have year round access to rifle and shotgun ranges. Get a decent target rifle and perfect your skills. Become involved in Olympic shooting sports as a fan. Know the players and support them, spread the word about them, invite them to clinics etc. Don’t forget the Winter Olympics sport shooting events. Become an expert on the firearms you own. Learn some rudimentary gunsmithing. The plains Indians learned to adapt the rifles they possessed, replacing the metalbands with rawhide, which made a lighter more maneuverable calvary rifle that some regarded as better than the original U.S. issue. Take a course on making reloads. Check out black powder kits as a sidehobby from your regular firearm. Take a look at Garret’s research on the Pedersen inventions.

Remember Garret’s admonition “where there’s a will there’s a way”. These are some ways that I believe will strengthen the second amendment. The more people that own and use guns, the more difficult it will be for the anti-gun lobby. I’d like to finish off with two anecdotes. First, after the treaty of Versailles, the German airforce was cut down to nearly nothing. How then did the Germans have so many Messerschmidt pilots at the beginning of the Second World War? They simply started glider clubs all over Germany. Perfectly legal yet effective practice for pilots. Hence target shooting.

Secondly, I lived at one time in a very tough neighborhood in Riverside California. One Sunday afternoon as my family returned home from church the police had blocked off our street. I sent my family into the house and I walked down to where a crowd of my neighbors were standing. Out of a backyard came a stretcher bearing a shirtless, handcuffed man. He was wounded. I quickly found out that he wasn’t from around our area and had come to our neighborhood to shoot his estranged wife. As they brought him by our group one of our number yelled out, “We’ve got you marked. Don’t come back here. We’ve all got guns!” A cop just smiled as they loaded him up. Minutemen, for sure. I appreciate the opportunity to express myself, using the first amendment to defend the second. I would also like to hear from any of you concerning this crucial matter and what can be done to ensure the continuation of all our constitutional rights. Thank you for your kind consideration and Garret for his patience.

Now forgive me for asking this...but is it me, or is the media trying to provide an "excuse" for the pile of human feces that carried out the Trolley Square attack?

Umm...MSNBC you need to pull your head out of your anal orifice* and realize that murder is a heinous act that is not excusable. It certainly isn't going to be accepted any time soon by the survivors (especially to the family members that lost a loved one).

*trying to cut down on the "language" on the site, I know some of you have kids.

By the way, I was changing stations on the radio, and ended up listening albeit briefly to NPR (KUER here in Utah). Doug Fabrizio, who runs the evening program had one of his "experts" on who claimed that civilians have neither the skill or ability to have averted the tragedy in Trolley Square. She (I don't remember her name) went as far as to sarcastically question why CWP (Concealed Weapons Permit) holders never stop these incidents from happening.

I tried to call the show, only to find that it was a rebroadcast. My comment would have been: "quite naturally all these horrendous attacks occur where guns are discouraged or outright prohibited!!!"

When was the last time you heard of a shootout at the NRA Convention, police station or at a gunshow? The criminal would have a lifespan of about 1-2 seconds before being converted spontaneously to human hamburger.

Also folks, some of us "civilians" DO have access to tactical training and have been in the military (where you face far more horrible threats than a street punk with a Glock and an attitude (Not referring to Trolley Square).

This will be the last post I make about the Trolley Square incident, I'm tired of recieving emails about how I don't know what I'm talking about, or how I'm insensitive to the person who carried out the act (Yes, I actually recieved one that said I should not judge the scumbag). Tell you what, you take your "feelings" and next time a gunman shows up with the intent to do harm - stick your head between your legs and let Darwin take his due as you obviously don't value life (yours or others) enough to have the desire to continue respirating.

Now in conclusion, I happen to respect LEOs a great deal. They do take great risks, and some of them are very close friends. The officer that did take on (alone no less) the madman at Trolley Square is a hero - no doubt about it. However, those that claim that LEOs have some magic ability with a gun that a civilian could never have are living in a fantasy world of their own.

The Brady Bunch have decided to again use the horrible Tolley Square (Utah) tragedy as a call to arms for their socialist agenda.

I live about 30 minutes from the Trolley Square mall, and it is situated in one of the MOST liberal parts of Salt Lake City (AKA "Little 'Frisco" in certain circles - for the politics in the area). This is also one of the few malls in Utah that features a "NO GUNS ALLOWED" sign on their doors so I rarely (if ever) frequent the mall. Guess that sign really helped...

What happened was horrible, undeniably - but to call for additional gun restrictions (as the Brady's and the local mayor - Rocky Anderson) is to doom more people to the same fate. You see, the ONLY people stopped by "NO GUNS ALLOWED" signs are the law abiding, the Concealed Carry holders - that could/would have ended the life of the bastard that carried out this heinous crime BEFORE he slaughtered those innocents.

Amazingly, I have heard dozens of times on both radio and local blogs that people are planning to obtain a firearm and concealed carry permit. One older lady on the radio stated (to the best of my recollection) that she hated guns in the past, but considering how long it took the police to show up (by all reports several minutes - and ALOT can happen in a single minute), she now wants to purchase a firearm and carry permit. The "sheeple" are waking up - this is good, but the cost to wake them up, one that should not have been paid.

Sadly, I fear that most will forget this incident within a year, just like the L.A riots, Katrina etc...ad infinitum...

Ah, yes the "Brady Bunch"...While I feel for Sarah - her husband was indeed shot by a madman - she has become mad (read: insane) herself and now has a vendetta against all those who DID NOT cause her husband's injury. You see, the Brady Campaign now associates far more openly with socialist causes than they did before and has even produced a cartoon subtly calling for the invasion of America! At one point the video states "send in the peacekeepers", the common term for the U.N. armed forces.

While I am somewhat lukewarm about linking to their material, what I want to stand out in your minds is the fact that they are openly SUPPORTING the invasion of America by a foreign army. You may think this is a harsh statement, but watch the video for yourself - the Brady Campaign support the message of the video enough to host it on their site.

Not that the U.N. "peacekeepers" would get 100 yards down the road in most "free" U.S. cities before being torn to pieces by the civilians WITH guns.

I can just see it: "don't fire until you see the BLUE of their helmets..." (*laughs*)

When the British marched on Lexington and Concord
they were dressed in the regal red of the Empire. Upon
their brows they wore the death’s head cap, skull and
bones, which exclaimed Death or Glory. These were
serious soldiers who had not many years earlier stood
shoulder to shoulder with some of the American
colonists’ finest men against the French and Indian
forces. Now they marched to capture ‘rebel’ munitions.
Those who stood against them were the local farmers
and merchants, the men ready “in a minute” to defend
their rights. They were ready to die and to cause
death in the defense of town, family, and freedom.
Though not well trained in the art of war they were
also serious men who brought their own muskets and
rifles to form a line against the redcoats. Some
modern scholars have tried to imply that the
revolution was merely the attempt of wealthy
capitalist elite landowners to set up a government
that would make them more wealthy. The farmers who
waited for the advancing British were middle class or
lower, and surely had much to lose in this bold
venture. Lands, savings, and their very lives.
They knew their weapons intimately. Their firearms
provided game for food, but most importantly
protection. Protection from marauders of any ilk,
whether Indian or white.
These same farmers with their own firearms continued
to enlist to battle the British until freedom was
purchased. Many paid the ultimate sacrifice for the
freedom I and my family enjoy today.
When amendments were added to the Constitution, it
was recognized as a reality by the framers, that the
people had a right to bear arms to protect and defend
themselves whether from the hostile forces present in
any society, or the tyranny of government that refused
to acknowledge the will of the people. The framers did
not say, “Farmer John, now that we are a nation you
can turn in your firearms. The constables will
safeguard us now”. On the contrary, they sought to
protect Farmer John’s right to bear arms. The
constable can’t live at your house or business to
protect you from the bad 'uns. You are the first line
of defense.
Amazingly today, the government says in times of
disaster the people must be prepared. They talk of 72
hour kits, and first aid training, blood donations
etc. They tell us that in an emergency you can’t
really depend on governmental agencies so you should
have some emergency food and water to sustain you
until help arrives. But some don’t want you to have
what the framers knew was essential in any
catastrophic emergency. The right to bear arms for
home defense. As I related in my last attempt, neither
the National Guard nor the local police can protect
everyone in an emergency.
Fortunately the Constitution framers could see the
value of such an amendment for the future generations
of America. No government can lightly dismiss American
gun owners. We’ve got the Constitution on our side.
Sadly, there are some who think this right is
outmoded. “The framers never envisioned machine guns,
tanks, jet fighters, yada yada.” But they did. They
knew that progress would take place in all fields of
human endeavor, including firearms. They had cannons,
grenades, ships of the line and so forth. They would
never be so ignorant as to conclude we’d be using
muskets forever. These intelligent souls understood
the nature of man, and that’s why a three branch check
and balance government was set up. It ensured that the
people were represented and couldn't be overwhelmed by
one powerful branch.
The greatest check and balance is the second
amendment. It gives real power to the people who can
check the government. A well armed population cannot
be easily subjugated by foreign or domestic hostiles.
The right to bear arms is essential to a free
society.

It’s All About Power to the People part I by Adler

I have never written or published before this time
on any subject, let alone firearms and the second
amendment. My main experience with the same was during
my enlistment in the Marine Corps in 1969 (not a
popular thing for most college students back in the
day). I qualified as an expert on the range and
enjoyed shooting both the M-14 (which I preferred) and
the M-16. I stayed away from guns afterwards, though I
was offered an opportunity to go down to Central
America with some mercs in the early 80’s. I, like
many people who have had training respected firearms
but felt no real need to have one in the home. The MSM
did a good job of publishing every gun accident and
child fatality and I didn’t want to risk it until
something very dramatic happened. That was the Rodney
King riots in L.A. The point was dramatically made
that during that massive riot the police were held
hostage in their own station houses trying to protect
themselves while the general folks were on their own.
And they were on their own for days until the National
Guard got it’s sorry act together (not the soldiers,
mind you, the pin head politicians). Stores and
businesses were looted and destroyed. Innocent
citizens were dragged from their vehicles, and
vendettas were carried out. The City of Angels was
aflame and it wasn’t stopped for days.
I remembered that scared feeling of uncertainty,
since the riots spread across towns and even state
lines. Would my family be safe? Fortunately, the Guard
finally quelled the destruction. I remember that time
well. The MSM who reported gun deaths now showed me
what happens when our police aren’t enough. But I
also saw something else. Korean gun shop owners doing
what the cops couldn’t. Protecting themselves and
their property.
Time passed, and a new trial was in progress, the
O.J. trial. There was concerns that another riot would
hit Southern California no matter the verdict . This
time I decided I couldn’t depend on the government to
effectively protect my family. Time was critical. I
went to a local sporting goods store that sold guns. I
knew I wanted a rifle, but I discovered a “waiting
period “ for gun registration. The dealer sensing my
urgency steered me to a rack of old Enfields. Because
they were military collectibles I could take it home
right then. I purchased the best one in the rack and
some 303 ammo and went home. I disassembled it and
cleaned it to USMC standards. I knew it was only a
bolt action with a 10 round mag, but at least I had
something. Something I knew how to use if needed. I
prayed that I wouldn’t, and thank God, never had too.
There were no riots. But I was empowered.

In a complete lack of social order (SHTF) or even war, for that matter, one will always want to have the ability to deliver an effective rate of fire. John Pedersen fulfilled that need back in 1917.

Now before you all go out to modify your rifles (or as I'm fond of calling them - your Homeland defense weapons) - Remember the F-troop (BATF) and FBI do not like people modifying their weapons to be more effective. They throw tantrums and tend to kill innocent pregnant women, kill your dogs, steal your guns, kidnap kids at gun point and get away with it.

(ok..deep breath Garrett...deep breath - relax!)

As I was saying, the Pedersen device granted the US soldier the ability to deliver a rate of fire that allowed them greater destructive ability against their enemy. There supposedly are a few in civilian hands, but I'm curious how hard it would be to make one.

Now, I'm not saying I will make one, I'm just curious how complex the design was and what would be involved. Anyone out there know?

I watched the news today (big mistake...I know) and realized in the media frenzy over how "wonderful" Nancy Pelosi is and how "incredible" it would be to have Hillary as President, how incredibly screwed as a nation we would be. Now, don't misunderstand. I knew before this poignant moment that this nation is "circling the toilet bowl" as it were, but to suddenly have an epiphany just how far this once great nation has fallen really can affect one's hope. It's sad that the nation into which I have brought a child, is now a nation that each passing day becomes more like our adversary (Russia) during the Cold War.

Make no mistakes my friends, the above quote by Bill Clinton is how the majority of the hard leftists in the Democrat and Republican party feel that this nation should be run. They call us many things: tin foil hat wearers, consiracy buffs, gun-nuts, survivalists...all titles meant to belittle us and make us appear to be less than we are. You, my friends are the future of this nation - let no one make you believe otherwise. Our rights are sacred, regardless if you believe in a Supreme Being or not, they were never meant to be taken away.

Keep your powder dry, do not fear our quasi-socialist leaders. Speak out, excercise your rights (especially your right to bear arms), raise your children to respect the Constitution even if they bear no respect for our current leadership.

Lastly, do not ever lose hope. The simple fact that our numerous antagonists must turn to propoganda and lies to make their point tells me they have not won yet. Ok, let's assume for a second that the Supreme Court knows what they are doing...scratch that, that's a bit like believing in Santa Claus.

The Supreme Court will likely do one of two things (I am not a political scholar so the results may vary):

1. The court does what it does well and tries to duck the issue ONLY making it applicable to DC (or the states) or somehow spins the issue till it has no real bearing (after all - hasn't this case been decided before?).

2. The court does the unthinkable (and incredibly stupid choice) and rules AGAINST the second amendment being FOR the people. At which point there is an immediate push by our DEMONcrat overlords for mass confiscations, which leads (naturally) to open rebellion by the people. Ultimately leading to each of these judges, that ruled against the second amendment, hanging from a tall tree somewhere.

Say it with me people the Second Amendment is not PRIVLEDGES granted to the people! It is a RESTRICTION placed on the government and as such is immutable as is the rest of the Bill of Rights!

...remember you're not paranoid when they REALLY are after your guns.

Sort of false, a 7.62x39 will blast through bone, but I've never seen one go clean through an engine block - even in steel core. Now, I will admit that there are likely some exotic ammo types that may do this...but they make the 7.62x39 sound like a .50 cal. Guess when you're playing fast a loose with the "truth" like these cops you can't let facts slow you down.

"What you see here is not just in the Fischer," Scheurmann said, pointing to the SKS. "The shame of it is there are a lot of good people out there who see people with weapons like this, and they're scared. With drug dealers out with these, what can they do?"

...Shoot back? But hey, that would just "escalate the violence" according to these officers who believe that guns just create more violence. If that is indeed the case, why don't you ask them why THEY carry a gun?

Your homework for the day is to think about why in high crime cities where police can't control the crime and there aren't enough police to effectively patrol the city, why they don't allow you to effectively protect yourself?

Once again proving that people have become "sheeple", some of the folks in Memphis have decided to turn in their guns to keep them out of the hands of lawbreakers. That is the MOST pathetic argument I have heard in a while (followed closely by "if it saves just one child...").

Sorry for the lack of updates, real life has a nasty way of getting in the way of blogging. I can't say much for the garbage that passes for literature these days, but for any free-thinking individual I can heartily recommend Boston's Gun Bible.

I just recieved my copy two weeks ago. This book contains everything about guns (at least militia/military type firearms) that you wanted to know, but were afraid to ask the ATF. At anywhere from $15-17 it more than pays for itself with over 800+ pages of very good information for those that realize that the government is not always your friend.

Since I love camping, I bought myself the most useful camping stove I have ever seen (the image to the left). It's a very simple alcohol stove that you pour a little denatured alcohol into and *poof* you have a flame that will cook anything you throw at it.

Ah, but you ask - Where is my complaint/rant today? My rant remains with my local Wal-Mart. You see, you cannot buy more than one small container of fuel for this stove (at Wal-Mart) as "some people" may use the fuel to make "weapons or drugs and it's against the law", yes this was the lame excuse used to prohibit me from buying more than one small container of denatured alcohol (ethanol). After all, they said, "it's to protect the children...if it saves one child..."

Isn't that the same tired argument used to ban guns by the Socialis...err...Democrats (and Republicans too)?

I immediately went to Lowes (a local hardware store) and asked if any such law existed, to which I was immediately told, "I've never heard of a law like that, how many gallons do you want?"

WHY do people think that they know what is best for others? I know, this is an academic question with millions of possible answers, but this is really beginning to make me wonder - just where did my freedom go?

One thing is for sure, the folks at the local Wal-Mart will never be confused for legal scholars, or even known for their mental prowess. This "happy camper" will limit his future purchases at that particular chain. However, that poses an interesting dilemma, shop at Target and support a white flag bearing anti-American FROG or Shop at Wal-Mart and participate in the great "nanny state" experiment? Guess it's time I really supported the HEART of America and checked out my local "mom and pop" stores.

Just my .02 cents.

By now you have an idea how I feel about over intrusive government. California has just passed a law allowing them to enter a suspects house without a warrant at all. Now granted, the all too mis-named PATRIOT act did far more to convert this country into a police state than any other recent law/s this century. So what they can they enter your house to arrest you for you ask? For being SUSPECTED of DUI (Driving Under the Influence - of intoxicants). Not proven that you were driving under the influence...but suspected. Anyone smell a Salem witch trial coming on? Perhaps a McCarthy era where the Left imprisons the Right?

Read it and weep...really.

Just my humble advice, but get out of California NOW. If you are there, you are in enemy territory, move out to the free states before you become "accused".

I could retire by making an "alternative energy" company. I could set up some wind generators near the bodies of this country's founders. They are surely turning so fast in their graves...

Ahh...New York. Home of the big a**hole...*cough*...I mean apple. Our topic today is the local mayor a certain Mr. Bloomberg.

It seems that in his zeal to blame EVERYONE else for the crime in HIS city, he may have become an accessory to some violations of federal firearm laws:

Read it and weep...or laugh at Bloomberg's expense.

So do I think they will really prosecute him? No, I don't. He is a politician, and like all those of his ilk, he can do almost anything (even commit murder - like Sen. Kennedy) and be forgiven with nothing more than a slap on the wrist. These are the people that dictate and enforce our laws yet they attempt to subvert our rights?

They claim that we do not need firearms as they will "protect" us, yet they remain 24 hours a day under the protection of armed guards. Hypocrisy no? Such is only allowed because "some animals are more equal than others".

Isn't it odd that when a gun crime occurs, that politicians are so quick to blame and try to confiscate firearms from everyone who DIDN'T have anything to do with the crime? There's some logic for you.

Let me guess, this is one of those who would hide in his closet if an intruder entered his house and call the police. All the while hoping that they (the police) would arrive to "protect" him before he put his head between his legs and kissed his butt (yes, this page has a PG rating) goodbye.

Your homework tonight (Just as an example - I don't really recommend this): Call the police and report a break in, then call the pizza guy and order a pie with everything on it. David at Waronguns, I think, said it best...they think they are the "only ones professional enough" (also credit to the DEA moron - who shot himself - thus making that line famous - Sadly he did not qualify for a Darwin Award). What's funny is that as a kid I used to respect police officers who put their lives on the line to "protect" the people. Now they seem more and more often willing to put MY life (and that of my family) on the line because they believe they are either more "equal than others" or somehow imbued with a magical ability to control their firearms that a civilian could never have. My advice, never negotiate, or trust any who would deprive you the right to keep and bear arms.

Vincent, Chicago "Detective": Civilians? You think the problem is with "civilians" owning and carrying firearms? Your badge doesn't make you safe with a gun. Your training doesn't make you safe with a gun. Practice makes you safe with a gun. In the last 3 weeks, I've had 3 police officers negligently point firearms at each other and at me, and explain it away with, "I'm a cop - it's okay." This arrogance and stupidity is what gets people killed. Your superior attitude towards "civilians" is both ignorant and unwarranted. You want to impress me with your firearms skills? Come on down to Dallas, and shoot an IDPA or USPSA match with me, and I'll send you home with your head hanging in shame. The best shooters in the WORLD are civilians, so take your attitude and adjust it, pal.

(Please note that the subject of this post is based on a conversation...I wouldn't want you to confuse me with fabricating events like the New York Times)

I was talking with a few friends of mine today and the topic swung to people moving here to the sunny state of Utah from the "big cities" (ie. Chicago, Los Angeles, San Fransisco, New York ad infinitum). According to what I have seen/heard the vast majority move out of those blue-state Hell holes due to out of control crime, housing prices etc. One topic rose up regarding many of these people being "hoplophobes" and joining anti-gun groups here in Utah. Answer me this: why in the BLOODY HELL do you move to a "low crime" state and want to start passing laws (against gun ownership) that led to your previous city resembling something out of Dante's Inferno?

But wait, I guess I'm not as "educated" as them, so I can't possibly understand their "logic". Also, I'm just too tired to try.

Please post away and give me your thoughts on this.

Today's lesson is about why some people should not breed. It also demonstrates why our public school system and colleges are failing us. Case in point, an aspiring reporter (Sarah Waldrop) who has no idea what the second amendment is about...but she has a high opinion of the first amendment (Credit to David @ Waronguns for finding the link):

Sad isn't it? The funny thing is, the anti-gun folks can't seem to get the general idea that criminals DON'T FOLLOW LAWS! That's what makes them criminals. Passing more laws restricting guns will do two things:

1. Violent crime will increase dramatically. This demonstrated in England and Australia after the passing of severe restrictions on firearm ownership.
2. It will eventually turn all true believers in the 2nd amendment into criminals as many of us will not give up our firearms to comply with some two-bit politician's wannabe "utopia".
